You mean Sam Shields isnt a reciever of consequence? Come on man, youve been reading to many of NJ's posts. They may wait on Dominic Brown and its no secret that Tamarcus Porter didnt sign his LOI yesterday at Pitt. Hazelton is still an option too for 07 since his dad wont sign his LOI. George Robinson is thought of as a guy that will be better than Darnell Jenkins at the least.

In the 80s, they actually had good blocking and great quarterback play. Most of those recievers were like florida recievers, good college players that never amounted to a hill of beans beyond college. Yeah there was Irvin, Blades, and Perriman....but who was Randall Hill, Dale Dawkins, Wesley Carrol, Jonathan Harris, AC Tellison, Chris T Jones, Horrace Copeland, etc.

The recievers sure looked great in 04 when Berlin was torching the #1 ranked defense in the nation for 49 points. The point is, you have to be able to block and you have to have a trigger man. The least of my worries is at reciever. We may need some bodies for depth, but there is plenty of talent there. An above average offensive cooridintor, hell one that even has a clue will go a long way.

Maybe I was too harsh & over the top--I'm just pessimistic about what's going to happen with the future of our passing game. Shields is darn good...G-Rob, Tamarcus, D-Brown, & Hazelton coming in would be a DREAM. I'd have to ask someone to pinch me.

Let me ask you about next year's QB class--do you think there's any chance we're in the running for Ryan Mallett out of Texas? What about the Clausen the Younger? I personally think Mallett is either OU, Texas Tech, or UM bound according to what I hear, and I think Clausen's top 3 is USC, ND, and UT...but we will be recruiting him.

Honestly, I havent followed the 07 class any further than Devine and Allen, but I would say that a QB commit would be a given. Im more intersted in seeing if Berry can help some of these guys get better. Wright should be better than what he is, esp. his accuracy on the deep ball. Freeman doesnt even look like he has played before, he is as raw as it gets.

We need to just get the recievers the ball man. For once Coker actually makes a point. You have to get your playmakers the ball. Look at Sin in the senior bowl and tell me what Dan Werner was doing the last 2 years. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Coker says he def wants to add a reciever, Im pretty srue it will be Porter, Brown, or Hazelton for the 07 class. As hard as it has been to get recievers into school, we need to start recruiting 2 years ahead and take guys like Hazelton and send them to prep school because you know that next year we are still going to have problems getting kids admitted.
